- Evaluate what you have done, and learn from it – especially when your cluster is in its pilot phase.
- The process of evaluation starts before you start to implement your workplan – think before you start about what success would look like, how you are going to measure progress, and when you will have a formal review
- Reflect on how your group is working, and what are the key features of how it does things that make it work successfully
- Write it down! Having a description of “how we do things around here” will help you to induct new members and avoid you gradually drifting away from the things that have made you successful
- Develop distributed leadership within the group – don’t become over-reliant on one individual
- Review how you’re working and keep on reviewing; don’t be scared of changing the structure of things as time goes on, and there is more of a focus on delivery, but . . .
- Don’t rely on structures as a substitute for a genuine collaborative ethos.
- Share the learning!
