Having identified a shortlist of items to take forward, the next task is to undertake some basic feasibility and resource investigation work on each item, and to produce a brief report on each for discussion at the next meeting of the Core Group. Worksheet 4 sets out what this might involve.
The likelihood is that the members of the cluster will need to share this work out between themselves, and there is a danger that pressure of workload will mean that the timetable slips and momentum is lost. One way of reducing the risk, if there are enough members to make it possible, is for each item to be allocated to a pair of group members – experience suggests that pairs are less likely to fall behind than individuals.
Whatever way forward is chosen, this will be the first real test of members’ commitment to the project and to each other.
